With more businesses setting up staff working from home in the wake of the current Covi-19 crisis, the need for a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to allow staff to access the network safely and prevent unauthorised access has increased.
Below are instructions on how set up a VPN for Mac users:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network.
Click the Add button + in the list on the left, click the Interface pop-up menu, then choose VPN.
Click the VPN Type pop-up menu, then choose "L2TP over IPsec", Give the VPN service a name, then click Create.
Enter the server address as "X.X.X.X" and the account name for the VPN connection will be your FirstnameLastname (please use a capital letter for each name no spaces)
Click Authentication Settings, then enter the information below.
Password: SPA504g!
Shared Secret: XXXXXXX
Click OK
Tick the box "Show VPN status in menu bar"
Click Apply.
At the top of your screen you will now have a battery looking icon that you can use to connect the VPN.
Once connected click "GO" at the top and click "Connect to Server"
Type in the box smb:\\192.168.1.X and click connect.
